ACTION ON FILM AWARDS NOMINATES “CREATED EQUAL”

IN FIVE CATEGORIES

DIRECTOR, BILL DUKE, TO BE HONORED WITH ICON AWARD

ATLANTA -August 23, 2017 – If you’re wondering about all the awards/nominations Created Equal is receiving as it tours the festival circuit, you’ll finally get a chance to see the award-winning film for yourself at the Action On Film Festival (AOF) Las Vegas premiere on Friday, August 25, 8pm at Brenden Theatres (Palms Casino & Resort). Immediately following the screening will be a Q&A with director, Bill Duke, producer Thada Catalon, and lead actress, Edy Ganem.

AOF will present legendary actor, director, producer, writer, and humanitarian, Bill Duke, with their esteemed Icon Award for his dedication to bringing quality edutainment to audiences around the globe. His production company has successfully produced critically acclaimed film and television content for more than 30 years.

Bill Duke excels in front of and behind the camera. His acting and directing credits are extensive and include feature credits on Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit, Get Rich Or Die Trying, Deep Cover, Hoodlum, Predator, Menace II Society and Not Easily Broken just to name a few. He has recently completed production on Blexicans, a new television pilot that takes a comedic look at a mixed-race family. His documentaries, Dark Girls and Light Girls, which are both NAACP Image Award nominees, have aired on OWN, and were two of the most successful documentaries on the network.

Duke’s newest film is Created Equal, which stars a multi-cultural cast: Aaron Tveit (Les Misérables, Graceland, Grease Live), Edy Ganem (Lifetime’s Devious Maids), veteran actors Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba, Longmire) GregAlan Williams (OWN’s Greenleaf, Baywatch) and Yohance Myles (Shots Fired).

The full feature film has already won two Sunscreen Film Festival Awards: “Best Actor” (Tveit) and “Best Director” (Duke); San Antonio Film Festival "Best Actor In A Leading Role" (Phillips); and nominations for Imagen Awards: “Best Actor – Feature Film” (Phillips), and “Best Actress – Feature Film” (Ganem). AOF has also nominated Created Equal for five (5) awards in the following categories: “Best Picture,” “Best Faith Based Project,” “Best Actor” (Tveit), “Best Actress” (Ganem) and “Best Supporting Actor” (Lou Diamond Phillips).
