GREATER CLEVELAND URBAN

FILM FESTIVAL

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 24

 

The Greater Cleveland Urban Film Festival (GCUFF) was created with the artistic vision to present and expose the work of emerging talents and established artists who are contributing to the cinematic legacy as well as celebrating urban culture. GCUFF showcases minority films, which reinforces positive images and dispels negative stereotypes. The film festival provides a forum for the work of diverse filmmakers to be viewed and discussed. In addition to its cinematic showcases, GCUFF nurtures its attendees in a variety of disciplines, offering panel discussions, workshops and symposiums.

A portion of the film festival is dedicated to Greater Cleveland area youth by showcasing films and panel discussions that allow them to learn the craft and respond to the film subject manner in a healthy, confident and empowered manner.

LADY FILMMAKERS FILM FESTIVAL

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30

 

The Lady Filmmakers Film Festival (LFFF) is a film, music and art experience dedicated to celebrating women filmmakers, artists and musicians, and the men who collaborate with them. The festival involves an entire weekend of films, music, art, workshops, panels and, of course, parties! Also, the festival promotes and supports opportunities for artistic and career growth through many different workshops, panels and networking events.

CARMEL INTERNATIONAL

FILM FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 18-22

 

Filmmakers, film lovers, and industry professionals have enjoyed the Carmel International Film Festival (CIFF), which showcases the best of independent cinema and contemporary art, music and photography from around the globe including narrative feature, documentary, short, student, retrospective and premiering films. Looking to educate and entertain, the festival also includes an interactive lecture series including a film score demonstration in real time, the Art of Wine gallery tour and wine paring, Filmmakers Welcome Party, Legends Dinner, a Women in Film Luncheon, film and panel discussion, and an emerging artists music café.

ABOUT CREATED EQUAL

Thomas "Tommy" Reilly (Aaron Tveit), a cocky, up-and-coming attorney, begrudgingly takes on a case for Sister Alejandra "Allie" Batista (Edy Ganem), who's desperate to become a priest in the Catholic Church. Against his supervisor's wishes, Tommy files suit against the Archdiocese of New Orleans for gender discrimination without justifiable cause.

As the trial unfolds, an extremist concocts a plot to stop the heresy against the church by attacking and threatening to kill Alejandra if they don't back off.

Created Equal is directed by famed Hollywood director and actor, Bill Duke. The film also stars double Emmy Award-winner, GregAlan Williams (Greenleaf), Yohance Myles (Shots Fired) and more!
